I will be donating, on a semi-annual basis, 10% of gross sales revenue from all purchases of my stock image collections to various international and local charitable organizations with the hope of offering my clients a wonderful collection of images, and the oppurtunity to make a real difference.
My giving is simply about trying to help people and wild places, which need it. I see myself as a humanitarian technologist, as a man with relative access to "the good life". While not quite a Norman Rockwell picture, I do at least have access to, as Karl Marx put it "the means of production", and for that I am very grateful.
Proceeds from the Real Woods image collections will go to groups and organizations which are green in nature, (no pun intended), and whose focus is tree re-planting, forest management, and wilderness protection. The National Arbor Day Foundation, and The World Wildlife Foundation spring to mind.
Proceeds from the Paper and Pages collections will go to groups and organizations which are more humanitarian in nature, and whose focus is helping people less fortunate than myself on an international basis. The Save Darfur Coalition springs to mind, as well as one or two smaller organizations working with children in South-East Asia.
